Stiff's Saloon

On the morning of February 13th, 1902, Walter Howell discovered that G.A. Stiff’s saloon had been robbed overnight according to the Democrat newspaper. Howell found a wire screen had been pulled loose and a stick used to prop open the window. Evidence included dirt on the window sill, a table against the window and foot prints left behind. To find the thief, City Marshal Todd Warden immediately put blood hounds on the case. The hounds tracked a trail west on Virginia street to a field north of Armp Hill’s residence where they lost track. The thief got away with $9.60.
