"Pvt. Yancy P. Pierce of McKinney is the son of Mrs. Nellie Pierce. Pvt. Pierce volunteered his services to his country in June, 1917, while at Kansas City Mo. Was placed in Fort Still, Okla., training camp, Co. K, 140th Infantry, 35th Division. Went overseas in March, 1918, and was a participant in the Meuse-Argonne drive. Went over the top twice. Three days after receiving his discharge Pvt. Pierce re-enlisted and is now in the Panama Canal Zone."
