"Capt. W. W. Pierce is the second son of Mrs. Nellie Pierce of McKinney. He was born and reared at that place. Enlisted in the Regular Army in 1913, and trained at Camp Mabry, Austin, and Newport News. Was in the heavily artillery and won promotions, first to Sergeant then to Captain, while in training. Capt. Pierce is now in the service, being attached to the 424th Reserve Labor Battalion, Governor's Island, N. Y. "
