"Pvt. J. A. Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Watson, was born in Hunt County, but removed to McKinney when a child. He received his education in the public schools. Joined the Signal Corps of Richfield Camp at Camp MacArthur, Waco. Was telephone operator while at camp. Later he was sent to pennsylvania, then to New York, from which place he expected to be sent overseas, but the signing of the armistice turned him back to Camp Travis, from which place he was discharged."
