Dr. Geré Feltus made local history in 2021 as the first Black woman to be elected to serve on the McKinney City Council.

Dr. Feltus is an active citizen of McKinney where she has served on the Board of Directors for the McKinney Economic Development Corporation, the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County Board of Directors, the Advisory Council for McKinney's Police Chief, Greg Conley, and the Collin College Law Enforcement Academy Advisory Board. She is a proud alumna of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership McKinney Class of 2020 and a member of One Community Church.
