Dublin Core

Description

Beth Mack Bentley has become an integral person in the preservation of the history of McKinney. When noticing the rapid rate of local history becoming forgotten Mrs. Bentley and other community members formed the group "Legacy Keepers of Old East McKinney". The groups goal is to preserve the Black and Mexican heritage of old East McKinney as development and growth come to the area.

Mrs. Bentley has deep roots connecting her to McKinney as her family has been here for 6 generations. To honor her personal work within the community Mrs. Bentley has received the "Quality of Life Award" by the McKinney Community Development Corporation, and the " Leadership McKinney Alumni of the Year Award" by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.
