"Captain Bill H. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Martin, McKinney. Graduate of McKinney High School and attended University of Texas. Volunteered in Air Corp before Pearl Harbor. Trained as bomber pilot. Served in European theater of war two and one-half years. Was shot down over central Germany July, 1944. Was prisoner of war and helped to liberate his own companions April, 1945."
