"Maj. A. Fitzhugh Beverly, son of the late Judge W. T. and Betty Beverly, of McKinney, was born July 3, 1884, and educated in McKinney and Bingham, N.C., later attending Tulane Medical College at New Orleans, La. He was in the reserve corps about four years before the United States entered the war. Served as medical examiner at Austin about four months and was transferred from there to Canadian Aviation at Taliferro Field, Fort Worth. Received promotion from Captain to rank of Major. Sailed for England in November, 1917, with Canadian Aviation and was transferred to the American Aviation in France."
