"Pvt. I. D. Newsome, born October 2, 1886, at McKinney, and received his education in McKinney, Bingham, N. C., and Poughkeepsie, N. Y., is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Newsome of McKinney. Being over draft age and not being able to pass examination for the Army, Mr. Newsome did the next best thing and joined the A. & M. Infantry Regiment in February, 1918. The signing of the armistice prevented overseas service."
