Sgt. John D. Heard

"Sgt. John D. Heard, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Heard of McKinney, was born February 18, 1891. He volunteered for service in February , 1918, and was attached to the 45th Co., 29th Eng., and trained at Camp University, Washington, D. C. Went overseas in May, 1918, and was sent to University in Beaune, France. His work was such that he never went to the front, but he served as well in the duties assigned to him, that of bridge building and forestry work."
