Seaman William E. Rucker, Jr.

"Seaman William E. Rucker, Jr., was born in Collin County May 17, 1894, and received his education in the public schools at McKinney, Binghams Military School, North Carolina, and Castle Heights, Lebanon, Tennessee. Volunteered for service December 17, 1917, entering the Naval Branch. Was sent to the Great Lakes Training School, near Chicago, but developed pneumonia on the way up and was placed in the hospital upon arriving there. Three days later he died, as much in the service of his country as though he paid the supreme sacrifice "over there".
