"Second Lieut. Luther F. Mallow was born at Melissa, October 1, 1888. His early education was received in the schools of Lebanon and McKinney. He graduated in pharmacy at State Medical College at Galveston and was engaged as a pharmacist at Ladonia when he entered the service, September 20, 1917. He was sent to Camp Travis and served as pharmicst there. Later he attended Officers' Training School at Camp Pike, Ark., and after being commissioned Second Lieutenant was assigned to Camp Beauregard, La., as instructor. His company was preparing for overseas duty when the armistice was signed."
