Saloon Tour - Cole's Saloon

Dublin Core

Description

Bar fights are associated with saloons in the late 1800s. McKinney saloons had their fair share of fights but rarely did they shake the citizens. In 1890, according to the Democrat newspaper, two stand up citizens, George Howell and Frank McGill, got into an argument over something trivial. The article says that Howell lied to McGill causing McGill to hit Howell. Howell drew his pistol and shot McGill twice. Less than 12 hours later, McGill died. Howell was arrested and held on $5000 bond.
