"Despite rainy weather Friday and Saturday the fiesta of the Church of the Holy Family well attended. The fiesta, which was a celebration of Mexico's Indepdence Day, was held at the pavillion at the Picnic Grounds.Proceeds will from the celebration will be used toward the building of a church, Father Jose Vega, pastor, said. During the evening native dances and songs were presented in Spanish on the stage which was arranged at one end of the pavillion. Mrs. Vago painted the scenery for the patriotic drama, which was also given both evenings. Concession stands served Mexican foods during the evening".
