"Fiesta Queen -- Miss Rose Armijo will be crowned Fiesta Queen of 1971. The YoungSociety Club is sponsoring the celebration of Mexican Independence Day on September 17 with a Fiesta will take place at the Community Center (formerly Jaycee Center) at 7pm. Mexican dances will be performed by some of the ladies of the club and Mexican food of various kinds and cold drinks will be served. Jose Ugarte is president of the club and extends an invitation to the general public to attend this forthcoming event. The young Queen this year is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Armijo of 804 N. Tennessee street. She is 14 years old and a freshman at McKinney High School. Crowning of the Queen will take place at 8;30pm."
